Xiaomi pushes back time frame for U.S. invasion by one year

Image
At MWC the other day, Xiaomi unveiled its first 5G phone, the Mi Mix 5G, and the Mi 9 flagship. One thing that we didn't see from Xiaomi was a foldable phone. Truth be told, we might not have expected the company to reveal such a model had it not been for video we passed along last month showing a prototype of such a device. And it was Xiaomi co-founder and president Bin Lin who was handling the phone, which bends on both the top and bottom of the handset.
Xiaomi's global spokesman, Donovan Sung, spoke with Venture Beat and said that the company is testing a number ...

Lady Gaga talks about *that* Oscars performance with Bradley Cooper

Image
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's utterly breathtaking performance of "Shallow" at the Oscars really had the internet talking, but as Gaga reiterated on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, it is very much an act."Quite frankly, social media is the toilet of the internet. What it has done to pop culture is abysmal," Gaga told the show (from 3:15)."People saw love, and guess what, that's what we wanted you to see. This is a love song, 'Shallow.' The movie, A Star Is Born, is a love story."Gaga added they both had worked on the performance all week, and Cooper as director made decisions like making sure the audience was lit throughout the song, among other details that helped with the illusion of love. TikTok gets fined $5.7 million for collecting children's data, announces new kid-friendly version

Image
Success often comes at a price. For the company behind the video clip app TikTok, that price just so happens to be in the form of a record fine. According to a Feb. 27 Federal Trade Commission statement, the app formerly known as Musical.ly illegally collected data from children under the age of 13, and as a result was hit with a $5.7 million civil penalty.“The operators of Musical.ly, now known as TikTok, knew children were using the app but they still failed to seek parental consent before collecting names, email addresses, and other personal information from users under the age of 13,” FTC Chairman Joe Simons said in a statement.  Read more... Michael Cohen's 'How many times' exchange is now the most relatable meme

Image
Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's former personal attorney, spent most of Wednesday delivering a pretty epic testimony before Congress, and the tired people of the internet are grabbing hold of any lighthearted moments of relief they can get.At one point, Cohen was asked by Rep. Jackie Speier how many times Trump requested he threaten an individual or entity on his behalf, and what followed was a particularly memorable exchange. When Speier pressed Cohen to answer with "100 times?" Cohen replied "more." When Speier asked "200 times?" Cohen said "more." And when she asked "500 times?"  He said "probably." In that moment, a meme was born. Read more...
